YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT is needed to send GRACE CHILDREN & YOUTH to ASBURY HILLS SUMMER CAMP!

Summer Camp can be a life changer in spiritual formation of children and youth.

We have several children and youth in our congregation that desire to go to Ashbury Hills Summer Camp. Our goal is to raise $4,500 by June 1st. The average cost per camper is $520, with the church providing 80% and the camper providing 20% for active children/youth from our congregation. Will you or your small group help financially by contributing to our Camp Scholarship Fund? Thank you for your support and for making a difference in the lives of our children and youth!

Summer camp at Asbury Hills is all about fun, faith, and fellowship.

Campers:
 Form new friendships with cabin mates and counselors
 Participate in a variety of age-appropriate activities
 Deepen faith with small-group devotions
 Experience powerful worship

Because of these things, we see powerful results in our campers each summer.

 96% grew in their relationship with Christ.
 98% tried something new.
 98% want to tell others what they learned at camp.
 96% learned something new about faith.

Asbury Hills is a part of SC Camps and Retreat Ministries and a ministry of the South Carolina United Methodist Conference.

Thank you for you generous contributions. We have raised so far this year a total of $1,890 of our goal of $4,000. The current balance in the Asbury Hills Account is $783.60.

SUNDAY SCHOOL IS TAKING A TURN

Special thanks to BJ, Dalvon and Bianca for providing childcare at our last Sunday School meeting. Thank you to everyone who participated in each and/or BOTH meetings to kick off our new focus on Christian education at Grace.

Our lunch was special with homemade goods including shrimp creole made by our own resident chef John Chiles and broccoli casserole and lemon squares by Maxine Drake.

Our back-to-back meetings have revealed a strong foundation on which Grace can grow. As with all buildings, a good foundation needs support and for that we are turning to you.

Starting on Feb. 12th, Sunday School will have a little different look.  Fellowship time will be truncated so that we can meld into our opening program of song (thanks ahead to all who volunteer) and/ or a video from Chuck Knows Church at 9:45am.

Immediately following our large group gathering all will be dismissed to their respective classrooms. We understand the 10:30am early dismissal for choir members (whom take all ages I hear), but plan for a 10:40am end so that our acolytes, greeters and ushers can be ready to serve by 10:45am.

We are looking for volunteers of all ages. Options we are exploring are a split of the elementary grades and separating the middle/high school classes once our steady attendance warrants.

Other discussion included the development and implementation of a Teacher’s Aide (TA) program, car pool transportation, and addition of Disciple Express or some other similar format for the adults.

Our current classes include elementary grades with Mrs. Maxine and Shannon. Lessons are read, crafts, science projects, activities and FUN abound – plus a special birthday celebration on your special day thanks to Mrs. Maxine.

Our middle and high school kids are included in the real life applications presented by Mr. Brian and Ralph. This Christian education helps prepare our youth for the ‘real’ world and offers a safe haven to discuss ways to ‘turn the other cheek’. Community outreach is part of this class as they can be found feeding the homeless, singing at Heartland or Carolina Gardens or just hearing the pancake lesson at Denny’s. Won’t you join this amazing cast of experiences to lend your own fond memories of your Christian upbringing.

I found the easiest way for me to know Jesus and to make Him known to others is by teaching. We will support you wherever you are in your journey – thanks for stepping up! K. Neel kzneel@aol.com or 803-917-9347
